I have a big question for you today. How good are you at being you? Do you do you? Are you going through life being truthful to who you really are? Or are you trying to fit into some kind of mold that you perceive you ought to fit in to? I know this is a big question but it is a really important one and here’s why. When you are truly truthful to you, everything in your life starts to fall into place. You start to attract everything that you want. You start to attract love. You start to attract money. So what I’m going to challenge you to do today is to spend a little time alone really looking inward and thinking about who you really are. What really truly floats your boat? Are you being true to that or are you trying to fit into a mold that’s not really you. That’s a big question but I promise you, when you start to be unapologetically you, things will start to fall into place in your life. Thanks so much for watching! See you next week on another episode of Jacquie Straight Up- Bye!

Hey Jacquie! I have I the past worried a lot about what people think and fitting in to societies standards of “normal” or “beautiful”. This is something that I have been putting a lot of energy towards working on so it’s so nice to hear your story about all the lovely people on the beach. Thank you for this wonderfully positive message today!

I have lived TWO lives according to what I believed others thought I should be. The first was a career as a military musician here in London. Okay, I played in places like The Royal Albert Hall and entertained the Queen in her private apartments many times, but I was put in the Army by my headmaster and Methodist minister who thought the Army was safe place for a 16 year old from a broken home to do music. Despite all that, I hated it coz I was NOT not a military sort of guy. The second was a career in financial services when I kept my musical activities as an ‘amateur’. I was DEEPLY unhappy. Then one of Eric Clapton’s former bass players told me in a recording session (when I was the keyboards for my first album) that if I’d applied to be in any of the progressive rock banks in the 1970s I would have walked straight in! I then saw that I’d been in the wrong place (twice) and therefore not being me for many years. But that’s all changing now, and as part of that I am working with Jacquie to launch that first album. I’m also doing some Mozart and Beethoven chamber concerts on clarinet with some amazing musicians here in London.

I’m an example of someone who is finding their true self later in life, but I certainly won’t go to my deathbed regretting that I didn’t realise in time that I needed to be me, and didn’t give it my BEST shot when I discovered this. Rob.
