14 Jun Why your words really, really matter!
In today’s video I want to remind you of the tremendous power of the words that you choose especially the words you use to describe yourself and your circumstances.
You see your words influence your thoughts and as I have said so many times before, your thoughts and the feelings you associate with them determine the outcome of your life. And here’s the really cool thing about this, changing your words is relatively simple because with words, you can – to use a cliché literally “fake it ‘til you make it” It’s a fact that when you repeat something often enough, you start to believe it. You see, continuing to “make-believe” impresses upon the subconscious mind and eventually becomes your reality.
If you say things like “I’ll never be rich” or “money’s not that important” or “business is tough” or “losing weight is hard “ or and here’s one I’ve heard a lot from women, “I’m never going to find a man, all the men in this city are either gay or married” Well all those words eventually become self-fulfilling prophecies.
Instead, fake it till you make it with replacements like these: I am wealthy and always have an abundant surplus. Business is booming! I have a beautiful fit and healthy body, and the last one, there are millions of wonderful single men in the world, and my guy is on his way.
Let those phrases become self-fulfilling prophecies instead. And an important side note, even the things you say in jest become your reality because your subconscious mind does not have a sense of humor so choose your words wisely.
You see, the subconscious mind carries out orders without questioning. It’s tremendous power without direction. You have to give it direction with your conscious mind and that all starts with the words that you choose. By the way, if you’d like to learn more about the subconscious mind and what it actually is I will include a link to a great article on the subject below this video on my website.
I loved NFL great Michael Strahan’s book “Wake Up Happy” and I was really struck by this sentence and I quote: “My father never said ‘if you get a college scholarship’ or ‘if you get drafted by the pros..’ It was always when. When you get a scholarship, when you get drafted by the pros. Just by the words he chose, he made it seem like these things were supposed to happen”. End quote. And they did.
So my challenge for you this week is at the very least replace the word if with the word when. And whatever you do, if you have children, please take this lesson from Michael Strahan to heart and empower yourself and them with the words that YOU choose.
If you’ve liked it, please click the like button and share it with others– I’d really appreciate that. And I’d love to hear from you so make sure to leave a comment below this video and let me know where you plan to replace the word if with when in your life or how the words you have chosen have impacted you in the past.

Posted at 17:19h, 14 JuneI have always struggled with self confidence and am big on making excuses for myself of why things aren’t going to work out and it’s all subconscious related. It literally took me reading this to realize that I am sabotaging myself with these action. I just had a total moment of clarity, thank you so much for making this video.

Posted at 17:25h, 14 JuneI am so excited to try this! I am defiantly going to start replacing my “Ifs”. I know that I am going to make it one day, and I know that this will help me on my path to greatness. I just have to say it out loud more and believe that my life dreams are suppose to happen (or should I say are going to happen) and they will : )

Posted at 19:28h, 15 JuneThis is so true. I have been follow Jacquie straight up now for more than a year and a while ago I was struggling to rewire my mind to stay positive. I was doing what Jacquie said but just could not reach this point it felt like my subconscious just wanted to push me back to comfort zone. So I sat down with all I learned from Jacquie weekly encouragement and daily postive mantra and kept repeating my list every day. Now I am proud to say I am on my way to be a successful business owner.

Posted at 17:14h, 17 JuneHi Jacquie,
This post reminds me of the ‘Growth Mindset’ philosophy of Carol Dweck. Please see Ted Talk for more information.
https://www.ted.com/talks/carol_dweck_the_power_of_believing_that_you_can_improve?language=en
In this philosophy the word ‘yet’ is magic. I can’t solve my problem…vs…I can’t solve my problem yet. The idea as I understand is that you need to work at something and believe that you will succeed. Persistence and effort will see you through. This is also a valuable lesson to teach children. Talent is not the reason Michael was good at football. Dedication, effort and belief were key. I am taking small steps to explore new careers and certifications. I do not have a new career yet but I know I am on track.
Thanks for your inspiration.
