21 May What to do when you get hit with the “G” word (GRANDMOTHER!?)
A few weeks ago, someone, in all sincerity, called me a GRANDMOTHER. Holy sh*t…!?!
My. Heart. Literally. Stopped. (And in that moment it didn’t even help much to know that the comment came from a young kid with a teen mom!)
Me? A GRANDMOTHER? Are you friggin’ kidding me?
My regular appointments with Dr. B, ridiculously expensive anti-aging creams, and fanatical fitness regimens would beg to differ, thank-you very much. (And I haven’t even reached 50 YET!)
I dig into all the humorous details in today’s Jacquie Straight Up…but the crazy thing is, this rather shocking appraisal on my aging resulted in a wonderful moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It was actually pretty amazing…click the video above to watch.
We are all getting older. There is no denying it. So what do we do when someone refers to us as a “grandmother” for the first time?
Well, these are the BIG take-aways I learned from all of this:
- Don’t take yourself too seriously. Life’s too short.
- Look for those incredible moments that make beautiful, albeit funny, memories!
- And don’t let taking yourself too seriously get in the way of seeing those incredible moments. Even if it means looking past something that at first glance appears shocking or insulting!

See you next week!
Sending love and strength,
Jacquie xo
