19 Nov I want to be an 86 year old athlete
You may have heard about Joy Johnson, the oldest woman to compete in the 2013 New York City Marathon.
Joy successfully ran the 26.2 miles, and then, the very next day, she died in her sleep, her sneakers still laced on her feet. This was her 25th NYC marathon.
This was a sad news story, for sure. But for me, it was unbelievably inspiring.
Joy was 86 years old. And right up until the day she passed, she was doing what she loved.
I want to be just like Joy.
In today’s video blog, I talk about the rewards of pushing yourself physically, as Joy did.
I am a firm believer that hard exercise, six days a week, is the key to staying fit, young, and happy.
It is also the secret to living a full, healthy, and exciting life, right up until the day your time is up. Chris Crowley sums all of this up very nicely in his book, Younger Next Year. (If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it!)
It worked for Joy. It works for me. And I know it will work for you.
So I encourage you to go out there and get active. Go be the next 86-year-old super athlete!
Thank-you for allowing me to share this with you today. I’d love to hear what you think, so don’t hesitate to let me know your thoughts in the comments section beneath the video.
