Why you should have no Plan B!

In today’s Jacquie Straight Up I want to inspire you to be bold by explaining one of my social media quotes – it’s one that often elicits comments from those who don’t agree with me and here it is: “Never dilute your dreams by planning escape routes. Have no plan B!”

I know that this advice is SO contrary to how are most of us are raised and contrary to what most people have unfortunately bought into as the Gospel truth…You see, the truth is that our dreams come true when we go out on a limb for them – when we approach them as though we have our back against the wall or a gun to our head cos’ that’s when you pull out all the stops and you access your greatness.

Greatness is not accessed from a place of comfort or mediocrity. Greatness is accessed when you dare to be brave. Plan B’s are not brave. Plan B’s are for those whose desire for Plan A is not strong enough to even make it happen. Serena Williams didn’t take up basketball on the side in case she never made it as a tennis player. Bill Gates didn’t get a degree in medicine in case he never made is as a visionary and entrepreneur. They went all out for their dreams, they jumped in boots and all. Now I am the first to acknowledge that living like this and following my advice on this subject is NOT for everyone. It really for those of you who know that you have greatness within you, you want more and better.

The world needs all types – it needs leaders and followers too, it needs those who are willing to go out on a limb and it needs those for whom certainty and security is their #1 priority. Neither is wrong. The key is to know who you are and be true to yourself – not just buying in blindly to the beliefs you were raised with like the old belief of “always have a plan B”.

What do you really want? Who are you? Be true to you. For those of you with a burning desire to make your dreams come true, here’s what happens, when you go for your dreams with the fervor that comes from having no escape routes, you figure out a way to make them happen and when life throws you a curve ball and massively challenges plan A, you will figure out a way around it. Don’t live your life planning for things to go wrong. As Rumi said, “Live life as though everything is rigged in your favor” in other words always expect the best. You will figure out the curve balls and the challenges as they come – trust yourself.

If you’ve liked it, please click the like button and please share it on social media – I’d appreciate that. And I’d love to hear from you so make sure to leave a comment below this video and let me know how you plan to be brave from now on or let us know of a time when you went all out with no plan B and got what you wanted.

I can say that every time I have had nothing to fall back, is the time in my life that I have gone the farthest. No plan B forces you to have the courage that you sometimes wouldn’t have. I love love love this advice! It’s an awesome message and one I will for sure share : )

Courage is something that I have always struggled with, I’m a big “what if ” person, but the truth is I am stuck in a relationship I am not fond of and always think “what if I can find anyone else?”

When I watched this video it really struck me, you’re totally right!!!! Why would I consider a plan B when I could achieve a plan A? and I defiantly can find a better relationship if I’m staying in the old one unhappy one.

Thank you Jacquie. Wish me luck, I think it’s time I got brave and go for my Plan A!

I never thought to think this way. In writing my books I work as a substitute teacher….which I absolutely HATE… I really want to turn my books into movies.
    Love You
