Why Self Love Holds the Key to Having it All!

It’s Valentine’s Day soon and this video is all about love! It’s probably not the love you’d expect, today’s video is about the most important love of all and that is self love! Self love is the most important love of all – it’s because without it you really can’t love others fully and completely and with a totally open heart. You see, you can’t give what you don’t have.

Without self love we never get close to our incredible potential. We hide our bright lights and since as I have said so many times Happiness is the joy we feel when we are in pursuit of our full potential, it follows that without self-love, we will never have lasting happiness. It’s that important. Your happiness depends on it, your love life depends on it and your success in all aspects of life depends on it.

So what is self love? To me it’s peace and the realization that we are all one with the Universe. It’s not selfish, egotistical or conceited. Those things In fact come from the opposite of self love, they come from self loathing and chronic insecurity. When people feel the need to feel superior to others it’s classic self loathing. Self love is a place of complete security, security with who you are and with your place in this magnificent world. Self love means being gloriously unaffected by the opinions of others. Self love means self trust and to trust yourself means to follow your intuition and to take the risks necessary to accomplish your wildest dreams. It’s the ultimate goal in life and it’s pure joy. And you know what else it is, it’s my absolute passion. It’s my absolute passion to teach and share self love with all the women of the world. Because self love is power. It’s the realization that your destiny is in your own hands.

So now you may be wondering, sounds great but how the heck do I get there? It all starts with a little something that you have total control over. It’s a little something called self respect. So my question to you is this…What can you do today, right now, to begin to respect yourself more?

I’m talking about simple, doable things. Can you make healthier food choices for your body starting today? Can you go for a walk or begin an exercise program? Can you declutter your home or just your closet, starting today? Can you reach out to someone in need today? A person, an innocent animal, the planet?

Think about what small change you can make starting today to begin your own journey to self respect. You will have begun your journey to the nirvana that is self love. We are going to talk much more about this in the coming weeks because truthfully self love is the key to everything you want in your life.

In the meantime, let me know in comments below this video, what small action you are going to take starting right now. I would love to hear from you – and support you in every way that I can. let’s keep this conversation going! I totally agree, self love and self care is so important for growth and an open heart. I have been thinking a lot since I have watched this video and the action I am going to take is to block out alone time each an every day so that I can get to know myself better.

Self love is so important, I think it’s something that most people struggle with, I know I defiantly do!
I love what you wrote here Jacquie and I agree with Sophie, you cant love someone fully if you don’t know who they are. I think the step that I am going to take is to get to know myself better. I am going to try and make a list of things that I like about myself and stick it somewhere where I can be reminded of why I am lovable. Thanks Jacquie, you are the best!

I loved this segment! I recently when through a physical self-love experience (That sounded wrong lol) but as a result I lost 40 pounds, lowered my A1C and probably added 10 years to my life. So from that perspective Self-love is amazing, but not even the best part…

The best part about being a Mom who loves herself is that you naturally teach your children to do the same. My three girls emulate everything I do. The run with me, read with me, and speak positively about themselves, just like me!

The other place we need to practice self love though is at work. As a female executive, I find I say YES more than I should and way more than I need to. This (as you mentioned in the video) also comes from me feeling insecure about my place and value in the organization. Jacquie, I would love hear you talk about self-love from the perspective of a women’s career. That is where I think I can make the biggest difference this year.
