WHY FINDING “THE ONE” IS A CROCK OF SH*T!

Finding “THE ONE” is a complete and utter crock of manure.

Yup…you read correctly! Society’s obsession with finding “THE ONE” person required to “complete” us has us all messed up. And on this week’s Jacquie Straight Up, I’m fired up and ready to set the record straight…

Here’s the big issue: for many of us, it’s drilled into our brains that the key to happiness lies in finding our soul mate — the “one.” We are told that then — and only then — will we be truly happy.

So, in an effort to create our “perfect life,” we (particularly woman) go on an all-out campaign to find this elusive and enchanted “one” person who will make everything “right.”

People market themselves, misrepresent themselves, and do whatever it takes to catch their “one.” And then, once they’ve nailed the one, so many people spend the rest of their lives desperately trying to hold on to him or her, so they never become what we were fully meant to be. They never realize their full potential or live their dreams.

Does any of this sound familiar? If so, you’re going to love today’s episode. Click above to watch.

Here’s the truth: happiness is about BEING the one, not FINDING the one.

So if you are on an all-out campaign to either find the one, or to turn the one you have into something he or she is not, I would challenge you to stop doing that!

Don’t look for love; instead, give love. Look inward, and focus on loving yourself and being the best you, you can be. And before you know it, love will find you.

There are millions of animals in shelters waiting for your love. There are millions of lonely people in hospitals and homes dying for your touch. And there are millions of children who need love, mentorship, or even a home to call their own.

Let’s stop wasting our time and energy trying to find the one to love and validate us. Instead, go out now and give love. Your heart will be filled.

And if your “one” turns out to be the “one of many,” remember that nothing has to last forever to be perfect. They were in your life for a reason, and the time that it lasted was perfect.

So let’s put aside hunting for “the one.” Rather, be your own soul mate, and you will be happy and fulfilled!

I’d love to hear from you — what do you think about society’s obsession of finding “THE ONE”?

I’ll see you next week!

Sending love and strength,
Jacquie

I love it. So true. But when you’re young and dreaming of the family and the picket fence and the perfect life you think you need the one. I’m teaching my daughter to just be “the one”

Hi Jacquie. You have changed my perception of a ‘soul mate’ completely and what you say makes so much sense. I was beginning to think that I will never, in this life time, meet my soul mate, but if I follow your instructions I know that I will attract the “right” people into my life.

    Thank you.

Thanks so much Dawn – That’s great news! And remember, longevity does not define success so the “right” people don’t need to stay forever. You are independent, strong and free.

You are so right, longevity does not define success in any relationship. I was married for 37 years and he was not the “right” person. I am now happy and enjoying my life, freedom and the “one” (me).

That’s so great Audrey! Just one tip – he was right for you at the time…everyone enters our lives for a reason and nothing has to last forever to be perfect! Love that you are enjoying life! xo
